Christmas in Steamboat Springs Colorado 2014

For many years  we have been coming to Steamboat Springs to share in the magic. This is our 4th time coming to The Boat during Christmas time. Most years we head back before Christmas day but this year we are celebrating Christmas in Steamboat.

Chris made all of the arrangements and once again found us a beautiful home to stay in for the week. Its a one bedroom condo near the base of the mountain. We have an amazing view of the mountain. At night it is lite up with the night skiing lights.

There isn't as much snow up here as last year, but the forecast is expecting wait for it... a Winter Storm Warning. Our favorite!!! They are expecting heavy snow, the heaviest snow is expected to fall late Sunday afternoon and through Tuesday. 8 to 16 inches on Sunday!!!!!!!!!!!

This isn't a picture I took but I'm hoping to see a lot of this.

Before we could get on the road we had lunch with Mama Olga and Papa John at Village Inn,  I love opportunities like this is spend every last second I can with my grandparents.

Layden and Papa John got a little goofy while taking pictures.

Chris took this opportunity to buy a pecan pie for our trip. Yummy!!!

When we arrived at the condo the snow looked like this and of course, Layden thought he should put his face in it.

Rather than putting Layden's face in the snow we thought we better unpack and look for Figgy.

There wasn't a Christmas Tree so we brought a small tree to keep it feeling like Christmas.

Lots of gifts are being put under the Tree, we had to start adding some of the gifts to the other side of the fireplace!!!!!

We brought some gifts knowing we would give it to the boys early to have during our trip....

On the first day of our holiday mom and dad gave in to us..... snow boats and a large coloring book.

Layden was a little confused when we said we were going out for dinner. He thought we should stay in a play games all night. Maybe order a pizza.

Still not moving.

Mexican Food Yummy!!!

When We got home Figgy had showed up. We couldn't have been happier.

Now PJ's, Family Games, and Polar Express.

Day 2: My Ankle is broken...

We started the day with  Breakfast at the Egg and I, then I dropped of the boys to ski. While I did some shopping and then back to the condo for relaxing blogging.  If was heaven. Hot coffee, fireplace, girly movie, and my phone never stopping ring. WTF!!!

When the Chris woke up Figgy was on a shelve next to what I think is Mexican bugs.

On the second day of our holiday mom and dad let us open our next present..... Call of Duty ski masks.

After Skiing the boys found Figgy with a gift for them. It was a 25 days of Christmas Calendar. A little late but we were very thankful and excited for the gift. We eat the chocolates for day 1 though day 6 immediately.

Then it was straight to the hot tub to warm up them body and relax their muscle after all the hard falls.

I came back inside to finish watching my moving next to the fireplace. But it was hard not to watch them having so much fun. And even Umber came to watch them have fun.

Dinner time. Chris found a great dinner spot

Hot Green Tea, very hot. Layden really wanted to pour it himself but it was too hot and too heavy.

Warming up with hot tea.

Layden this is not how you use chopsticks.

White boy eating Sushi

Can he get it all in? Yup!!

It's starting to poop snow on us.

Driving up to check on the night skiing.

Snow fireworks.

Its great to be here during this time of year, it's magical. Lots of snow, Christmas lights, It's a winter wonderful land.

Figgy moved again.

End a great day with a family movie and cuddles. Life is good.

Day 2: Layden's 9th Birthday. And he has a long list of birthday fun!!!!!!

We wote up to Layden finding Figgy on the kitchen table, he had written a Birthday To Do's list for Layden. Looks like Chris and I will have to work hard to make it all come true.

Time to get started... Walking outside we were quickly reminded that there was a winter storm warning. It was dumping snow.  There wasn't any snow of the ground the day we got there, and now... it's heaven.

First Breakfast with Santa... Well we got it checked off but will lefted highly disappointed. It wasn't the real Santa. This 'Santa' wasn't jolly at all. There was only one other family and the atmosphere was boring! Plus Layden notice that this 'Santa had hairy arms and the real Santa doesn't have hairy arms. I wouldn't have care that the food suck if 'Santa' would have been jolly, come around to the table and inactive with the kids.

Layden would only take a picture if Ryleigh went with him. Layden was disappointed that it wasn't the real Santa and didn't want anything to do with him.

The food tasted shit shit.

I'm pissed just looking back at any pictures. Not only was this event shit but both my cameras were having issue and my pictures turned out like shit too.

The best part... pop rocks.

Ryleigh worked hard on his letter to Santa!

Boring!!!!!

Outof there... and taking Christmas Pictures everywhere.

Still dumping... why aren't we on the mountain today????

Next was the Chocolate Factory. Chris took us to the wrong place but Layden spotted the chocolate Factory from across the street and we were able to cross off and other item from his check list.

The boys found is dirty ugly bear outside the chocolate factor and had to have a cuddle.

Next item on the check list... the movies!! Layden wanted to see Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb

It was a GREAT movie, lots of laughs.

So far, Breakfast with Santa, Chocolate Factory, and Movies

When we got back to the cando our morning tracks were covered

Next on the list... Hot Tub.

I made the mistake of saying we should play in the snow, the boys took it as right now.

For the next 30 minutes they ran and drove into the snow and then ran back to the ho tub. I felt like a bad mom by allowing them to do this, but they were having so much fun and it's Layden's Birthday.

They even started making snow angles.

Eventually I stopped them and made them come inside and put on their snow clothes.  Playing in the snow...Check.

Warning Chris gets a little crazy in the snow.

The snow was great.

Driving into to the snow.

Layden face says it all, as he smashes a snowball into Ryleigh's head.

I not sure what to think, I thought he was eating snow but the way this picture looks he looks in pain.

Layden putting his face in the snow. WTF. that has to be cold.

Snow angles

This look is the look of 'I'm going to use this time to pay back my kids for sleepless night."

The snowball fight begins.

Chris is burring Layden in the snow.

I should help but I have to take pictures for the blog.

Ryleigh moments before he get an idea to tackle his dad.

Ryleigh puts snow in his face...

Run Ryleigh Run....

He did run ... and Chris got him back.... big time.

Ryleigh is still in stock.

Layden can't escape the daddy.

 Later...

Pay back..

A snowball moments before it hits Layden in the stomach.

Look at how happy he is throwing snowballs at the boys.

Tricky tricky

Layden wasn't fast enough.

Replay,

If you want to get snow on someone this is the way to do it.

Nope he hasn't had enough.

Ryleigh wants some too.

Layden got snow jammed in his ear. poor guy. I guess he has to go back into the hot tub.

So I think we did a great job on Layden's Birthday Check List.

Breakfast with Santa... Check
Chocolate Factory ...  Check
Movies .... Check
Hot Tub... Check
Kisses from mommy.... Check and Check
Play in the Snow.... Check
Family Game... Check

Layden's wish was for lots of snow, and a fun day with his family.

There is nothing I wouldn't do for my special baby boy. Happy Birthday Layden, We love you more than words can express.

Day 4

Our day started our slow and lazy. Chris had a rough night with what we think is a possible broken rib and food poisoning. Yup. We all thought he should go to the hospital but 'he's a man'. So between my broken ankle and his injuries we were ready to rock the slopes today.

The lines were out of control, 30 minutes or more. Layden found a way to entertain himself by showing his flexibility.

Ryleigh on the other hand was just bore and wondering why we didn't go home. Waiting in line was not worth a day of skiing in the fresh powder.

Nothing pisses my off more than getting pictures like this... where I miss the picture all together. Or thinking I'm taking a video and realizing I took a picture of the snow. Complete bullshit.
An other one of those moments where I think I'm taking a video and I take a shit picture. Layden Had a great day, huge jumping, super speed, he is a very talent little boy. I think next year ski camp.

Lunch on the mountain. Nothing great but I screwed up so many pictures I had to get a couple pictures of the day.

Ryleigh is doing great on the mountain. He loves the half pipe and simple down the mountain, staying well within his comfort zone. Chris and I are pushing him to step out a little bit. Hopefully by the end of the week. He loves skiing and in no time will be giving me a heartache.

This little is something else, skiing is a true talent of his. He comfortable on any level, double black diamond is no problem for him. His biggest issue is he get out of control and doesn't care about his friend on the mountain. He just goes. Today he took a huge jump, one of those jumps I only did because I was trying to stay with him so he wouldn't get lost. I love that he is so good but at the same time he needs a little fear.

On the bus back home.

We got home, I hit the bed for a nap and the boys went for the hot tub. We finished our Christmas shopping with Ryleigh online by buying him a GoPro and let Layden open one of his gifts.

On the 3rd day of Christmas holiday vacation mommy and daddy give to me....

A blue tablet and keyboard.

Chris was fast to set it up. And for the next two hours the boys were extra lazy playing on their tablets while Chris and I watched the Broncos Game. We are definitely not moving for the rest of the night. Happiness.

Day 5 SnowFlakes

When we got here 5 days ago I had nowhere to hang our stocks and was a little sad that I didn't plan for this. When we woke up Figgy had found a place for our stocking.

Today is all about the skiing. After breakfast we hit the slopes. Lots of Powder, white trees, and a day day really to be had.

Chris went to take a picture with Ryleigh and lost balance and fell into a tree, but made for a great photo.
I skied most of the day with Layden, main because he is out of control and never slows down.

Hehehe

Layden was pissed off I was trying to take a picture.

I love the top of the mountain because of all the beautiful frozen trees. So please take a picture you little shits.

At the end of the day layden I and were taking a cat walk down when Layden took a huge jump and land it. I went to ski up next to him to tell him how awesome it was when he turned and I crushed into him. He were both going fast and had no time to react. I came down on him slamming my shoulder into the ground and smashing him. It hust. Poor Layden was catch under me. Likely he didn't get hurt just a little scared. Me on the other hand I can't move my shoulder. I was already skiing on a broke foot, so I can add this to the list of injuries.

On the 5th day of holiday vacation mommy and daddy give to us... Rubik's Cube.

Dad mixed it up, and the boys flipped out, so Chris spent most of the night solving both thier Rubik's Cubes. Hahaha

Day 6 Merry Christmas Eve

Lazy Lazy Lazy Day. Layden woke up with a nose bleed which put him in a NO SKIING mood. Ryleigh had pucked the night before (I think from drink a hot chocolate, not the Stomach flu) I was willing to ski even though I can't move my arm, but Chris called it off.  So Lazy Christmas Eve.

Before we got out of bed Chris had gotten back to solving the Rubik's cube. It took him all morning to finally solve it on Ryleigh's and Layden had to switch to Layden which was a much fast task, yet still challenging.

The boys were worried this morning when they couldn't find Figgy but eventually found he playing it another piece of decor. I'm all for southwest decor but this place is over kill. Simplify it people.

Ryleigh and Layden's play was to stay in bed and be lazy in hope it would make the day go by faster. They would be happy to skip Christmas eve and just have Christmas already.

Chris still working on Layden's Rubik's cube. What a great daddy to work this hard at it.

Done. Both are Done!!

THen comes Layden and immediately mixes up the Rubik's cube again. I guess he just wanted to be the first one to mix it up. I Think Chris is crying in the bathroom.

I'm not sure what to think???

Layden's Shirt says he is on the 'Nice List', Ryleigh says not a chance, Layden must be in his old clothes. Look at Ryleigh's sweet sweet face.

We tried to get out but will all just wanted to be lazy, so we grabbed a coffee and came back. So what are we doing. I'm blogging and Chris... poor Chris is back at the Rubik's cube.

Got to stop being lazy and get ready for Christmas Eve Dinner.

Opening Christmas Eve gifts for Dinner... Why you ask? Well it's there Christmas Eve Outfits.

Chris got us reservations at the Grand Hotel for dinner.

I take so many pictures I shocked that my kids still make picture taking so hard. Just smile at the camera.

Ryleigh photo bombing Chris's picture.

Getting ready for more Christmas Eve Gifts. Why you ask? Christmas PJ's!!

Every year I do the same gifts on Christmas and my boys are still surprise. Pj's, warm blanket, Chocolate, Christmas mug, and family game and movie.

Layden's Christmas socks were for adults. It was super funny watching him put them on and pull them up half way up his thigh.

Matching Pj's. Yup we did it and we love it.

Hot chocolate spoons.

Santa Cookies.  Christmas is almost here.

Day 7 : Merry Christmas
