Elf on a shelf 2014

SANTA'S COMING....

Day 1: I'm here.... and my name is Figgy Upatree.

Today hiding in our tree was Figgy. Santa's scout, who was sent to be Santa's eyes and ears in our home. Figgy was kind enough to bring a letter and a fun gift for the whole family to do together.

Sitting in the tree Mailbox was Figgy waiting for the boys to get home from school. Luckily we were still working on the tree or we might not have seen him.

Well, Ryleigh spotted the gift under the tree that set off the clue something magic was in our home.

We've never had a magic Elf in our home, and I think Ryleigh thought at any second the Figgy the Elf was going to jump out of the tree and start running around the house. Layden on the other hand wont stop talk to Figgy.

Figgy was kind enough to bring a letter explaining his arrival.

Dear Ryleigh and Layden,

A year had passed and I'm excited to say,
I'm back to watch and listen all day!
Just in case you don't remember,
I'm here to be Santa's helper.
I let him know if you have been good or bad.
So be sure to behave and make he glad.
In order to keep my magic live,
Please keep your hands off when I arrive.
I want to be sure we have fun while I'm here.
So be a good boy to make sure I appear.
Hunt for me each morning when you awake.
Eat your breakfast, then a good day we will make.

Love,
Figgy

P.S. I brought you a gift to enjoy with the whole family.

Yup, Figgy wanted his every own room (house).

Layden couldn't get enough of Figgy. They had a long conversation about just about everything.

We notice Figgy had an other note for Issiah and Athena. It said Santa asked him watch them too.

Day 2: Time to read all about me...

The kids were up early, their eyes scanned everywhere looking for Figgy. We finally found him on the fireplace mantel, Figgy had another gift... The Elf on the Shelf book.

Grandma Debbie read the book during morning breakfast. The of the kids were completely engaged.

Later after school, Figgy wasn't on the fireplace mantel anymore and the search was on again.
He must have made a house and tried to decorated it for Christmas.

There is magic in our house.

Layden, noticed a noted that Figgy had written once our homework was done.

More Gifts...

Letter Ornaments, Figgy had made.

But wait... Issiah got something extra special.

Figgy made a tree with all of his notes to us.

Issiah loved his special gift. He feels the love.

Then, the building of the Gingerbread Houses...

We all worked extra hard and making the best Gingerbread houses we could make. We wanted the Christmas spirit to be strong in our home.

Ryleigh did a great job.

I really got into this project. So much fun.

Athena's and Layden's House....

Layden's and Athen's House

Day 3: Figgy loves to fly...Weeeeeeee

Somehow Figgy went wall climbing during the night and was found hanging from our landing.

Hey says he likes to fly....

Ryleigh is there to save the day and Figgy's life.

The kids found new clothes in his home too.

 Oh and some new decorations.

The kids are wondering when Figgy is going to where his sweaters.

Later that afternoon, Figgy was bored of flying and moved to the coffee table. He was all setup with his hot chocolate mug and straw and wanted to watch some movies. He wanted to watch The Polar Express with the kids, have cocoa and popcorn. The kids loved the idea and it was a nice fun thing to do on a Friday night.

Day 4: A Christmas Tea Party

Figgy was already for the tea party, even made himself a tea setting.

Layden and Athena were super excited to find out Figgy was going to join the Christmas tea party.

Layden wanted Figgy to see what a good boy he was so he helped out by sitting the table. He did a great job.

The tea party got started and everyone had a great time.

As a special gift to each other we painting canvas for each other.

Later after the tea party the boys went to nana's house for the night. We really think figgy would come but Figgy showed up in the freezer with ice cream.

Day 5:  Go Broncos
Figgy was ready for the Broncos game.

Day 6: Chocolate
Figgy got it in him to start the day with hot chocolate. He made a big big mess, spilling the sugar and marshmallows.

After school we found figgy pooping Hershey Kisses. The kids found this very funny.

He left them a note that he made a mess and asked them to clean it up. So they eat the kisses while doing homework.

Day 7: A morning ride on Ryleigh the Reindeer

After school the kids found a gift on the coffee, it said from Santa and Figgy.

Figgy was in the tree with a note. He wants to watch the Elf. Yay, I love this movie... great idea Figgy.

.
After dinner and homework the kids were ready to open the gift from Figgy and Santa and start the movie. But of course we needed to start the cookies and hot chocolate.

I asked the kids to take a picture when Rex photo bombed. Silly dog

It is so hard sometimes to get a good picture.

Santa is Coming to Colorado.

Day 8 You've Been Grinched

Oh no, we've been Grinched... if the kids don't do 3 acts of kindness Figgy stays frozen.

Day 9 Getting in trouble and the sounds of bells.

We had been Grinched the day before, all the kids worked hard to do their 3 acts of kindness. And they did great. When the kids check on Figgy he wasn't on the mail but the items the Grinch had Stolen were back in the mailbox.

Then we found Figgy, taped to the wall surrounded by army man. Looked like they were looking at his house. I hope Figgy wasn't up to no good.

Then after school, Figgy was back in the tree...

Looked like he was working out.

He had a small bell in his hand and a note.

Santa needed bells.

The kids found ten bells.

Day 10 Adding the his tree.

I have a small 1.5 ft tree, a center piece. Figgy using his note to you and ornament  to decorate his tree. Today we found him adding lights to his tree.

Later we found Figgy hiding. He looked like he couldn't wait for all of the kids to fine him.

Day 11: Ryleigh and Layden's Birthday Party

Figgy Upatree felt right at home tangled up in ribbon handing from the ceiling. I really think he wanted a clear view of the party.

Figgy left a note for Ryleigh and Layden.

He is on a swing.

Day 12: The snow is coming

Sunday morning we woke up all feeling the same way. We were ready for the snow and couldn't wait to cuddle up and watch the snow come down.  Not a worry in the world.

Athena joined Figgy to watch the snow, in hope it would cause a snow day.

Day 13 Happy 11th Birthday Ryleigh !!!!!!

Figgy was back to his old ways. He had tied up a small elf, whom he thought was a spy sent by the Grinch.

Figgy wrote Ryleigh a Birthday message, making him feel extra special.

He even had on a birthday hat.

Later after school we found Figgy in winter clothes. Maybe there is a storm coming in?

Day 14: Hide the Hot Chocolate Great Grandpa is coming

We found Figgy in the jar of marshmallow, hold on the a hot chocolate pack tightly.

His note said to hide the chocolate for grandpa because even Figgy knows how much Grandpa loves his hot chocolate.

Looks like Figgy tried to hide even more.

After dinner with grandpa and grandma we found Figgy making snow angles.

Looks like fun.

Day 15: Do you want to build a snowman??

I think Figgy really missed the snow!!! He found a pet and made a snowman. Don't worry Figgy we will be in Steamboat very soon.

Day 16:   Toys

We think they want to know if there is more toys coming for Christmas.

Later, they looked to be getting along and playing a game.  At less we hope!!

Day 17 Story Time

The Toys looked to be enjoying story time.

Figgy left a note for Ryleigh and Layden.

We are here in Steamboat and Figgy Showed up. Yay

Layden couldn't be happier that Figgy is here.

Day 17 The Elf on the Shelve.

Our vacation home is full of western decor. I think this is Figgy's favor decor. We like them as well.

After a fun day of skiing, the boys came home to an other gift from Figgy. A 25 days to Christmas calendar. A little next considering it's day 19 but we still love it.

Day 18 Happy 9th Birthday Layden

Layden woke up to Figgy on the kitchen table with a To Do List for Layden's Birthday! I guess Chris and I will have to work hard to make it all come true.

After ....
Breakfast with Santa
Chocolate Factory
Movies

We came home to play in the hot tub, Figgy was decorating the fireplace for Layden's Birthday and left him a special wish.

Day 19: Sleepy

Figgy had made a bed near the fireplace and was still sleeping when we got up.

After a long day of skiing we found Figgy was roped up.

Day 20 - SnowFlakes

The first day we got here to Steamboat I didn't hang up our stocking, I couldn't find anything strong enough to hold them. The boys and I talked and decided we would just not hang them up this year. I felt a little sad but what could we do.

Our little Elf Figgy had found a safe place to hang our stocking and a fun place for him to play.

Later after a full day of skiing, Figgy seemed to find a friend (or at least we hope). They were making snowflakes.

Day 21 Merry Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve our last day with Figgy before he heads back to the North Pole to prepare for the next year.

It took the boys must of the morning to find Figgy. I think Figgy love to decor of the condo even If I don't.

We stepped out to grab a coffee and Figgy add made it to his magic mailbox. The boys thought he might be saying Good-bye.

They were a little nervse about going to dinner, they both thought he might not be here when we get back. But to our surprise Figgy was playing in the tree. Well That is where he should be... Figgy Upatree.

Good Bye Figgy, we will miss you. See you next Christmas.
